Lorde fans have begun freaking out after the singer wiped her social media accounts late this past weekend. Anyone who usually followed along with the star on Instagram found an open canvas where once her page overflowed with all the cryptic posts that teased the possibility of a new album.
In place of her usual obscure teasers was a single enigmatic message: “THE THEMES ARE ALWAYS THE SAME— A RETURN TO INNOCENCE— THE MYSTERIES OF THE BLOOD— AN ITCH FOR THE TRANSCENDENTAL”. Fan reaction was immediate, with many interpreting this as confirmation her long-awaited fourth album must be near.
Frustration mixed with excitement as one commented she loved Lorde yet questioned how long the teasing could go on. It has been nearly a year since she first started sharing odd snippets without context. Just weeks ago another puzzling audio clip and studio picture stoking anticipation but plenty of details.
This has really created a mystique now, considering that before doing the wipe, the 27-year-old New Zealand artist had been posting a variety of strange posts on social media: hidden meanings in copyright symbols, variations of her initial, numbers, and astrological imagery have her millions of followers reading deeply into anything.
