Brett Favre has placed Taylor Swift directly in the firing line should the Kansas City Chiefs fall short of Super Bowl glory this season. In a recent interview, the Pro Football Hall of Famer was asked whether emerging rumors of a blossoming romance between the pop megastar and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce could prove a distracting influence on the gridiron.
“If they don’t win it or get to the Super Bowl, people are going to say, ‘That’s why.'” stated Favre, drawing on his experience winning it all with the Green Bay Packers in 1997.
While conceding the Chiefs possess the talent to march deep into the postseason, Favre acknowledged any shortfall would invite second-guessing of Kelce’s commitment, with his new love interest generating non-stop tabloid fodder.
However, the former MVP quarterback remains confident Kansas City boasts the firepower to lift the Lombardi Trophy in February when Super Bowl LVII touchdowns down in glittering Las Vegas.
Swift has made several appearances already to cheer on her man, including a triumphant New Year’s eve where the Chiefs overcame the Cincinnati Bengals. Though a Christmas day loss to rivals the Las Vegas Raiders followed, Kelce insisted quality time with friends and family saved the festive season.
Nonetheless, should a playoff upset scupper the Chiefs’ title charge, all eyes will fall on Swift as the supposed secret behind knocked Kelce and derailed the dreams of a city.
