Fans have long speculated about a potential collaboration between Hayley Williams of Paramore and R&B star SZA. In a recent interview, SZA appeared to confirm that talks of a team-up are moving closer to reality.
SZA sat down with Apple Music where she teased an upcoming collaboration with the multi-platinum alternative rock band. “It’s in the works,” SZA stated cryptically yet assuredly.
This update comes after Hayley expressed her admiration for SZA in past interviews. Last year while speaking to Rolling Stone, Hayley called SZA one of her favorite artists and said she would love to work together on something with an alternative flair that highlights SZA’s genre-blending talents.
Williams’ appreciation for SZA was also evident in her podcast appearance late last year. She revealed that following the release of SZA’s latest album SOS, she had been actively reaching out in hopes of making their collaboration happen. “”SZA for about six years now has been the one. I’m sending the texts weekly at this point,” Williams said enthusiastically.
Fans first took note of the potential pairing after hearing hints of Paramore’s signature sound on SZA’s hit “F2F.” The confirmation from SZA that the two powerhouse artists are now in talks to collaborate has the alternative and R&B communities buzzing in excitement for what’s to come. After years of Williams championing SZA’s artistry publicly, it seems a Paramore and SZA team-up may finally be on the horizon.
