Doja Cat had fans speculating about her 2024 Met Gala presentation based on one bold outfit: a towel. When she was spotted leaving her hotel in only a bathrobe and towel, many assumed she’d stick with another risqué reveal.
However, Doja surprised everyone with her actual red carpet appearance. While sporting wet-look maxi dresses are all the rage, Doja took a simpler approach; a plain white t-shirt.
At first glance, the t-shirt seems like an underwhelming choice compared to her usual daring style. But Doja explained her thoughtful reasoning behind it. As cotton is the most widely used fabric, she saw the humble white t-shirt as the “flower of choice” for the gala’s Gilded Glamour theme.
Doja also liked that a classic white t-shirt is a timeless staple that wouldn’t blend in too much with other lavish looks. Stylist Brett Nelson helped Doja execute her creative vision for a look that was meaningful to the theme yet still stood out in its simplicity.
