Apple Music users rejoice as five new mood-based playlists have been launched on the streaming platform. When opening the Apple Music home page, users will now see a ‘Find Your Mood’ section featuring continually playing playlists targeting different emotions. In addition to the pre-existing ‘Love’ and ‘Heartbreak’ playlists, the new additions are ‘Feel Good’, ‘Energy’, ‘Relax’, ‘Feeling Blue’ and ‘Focus’.

According to Apple, these playlists have been personalized for each user based on their listening history. With endless songs matched to the designated mood, it appears these playlists are algorithmically generated. While personalized recommendations are useful, some fans miss Apple Music’s signature human-curated playlists.

Curated by music experts, these special playlists provided unique track selections and discoveries. Subscribers knew real music aficionados had handpicked songs they themselves enjoyed. In contrast, algorithms dictate playlists with no soul or passion behind track choices.

As artificial intelligence plays a growing role in streaming, human connoisseurship gave Apple Music an analog edge over competitors. Unfortunately, these new “Find Your Mood” lists continue the digital shift, crafted by computer, not connoisseur.
