Pop princess Ariana Grande is ready to open up about the tabloid torture she endured last year surrounding rumors about her relationship with Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. During a candid chat with Zach Sang, Ariana held nothing back as she reflected on the “hellish” media firestorm that engulfed her personal life.
By now we all know the timeline – just days after Ariana’s shock split from hubby Dalton went public, word on the street was she had already moved on with Ethan. But according to Ethan’s estranged wife Lilly, Ariana wasn’t exactly playing by girl code. Lilly told Page Six that Ariana was the cause of their divorce, painting the seven-time Grammy winner as no “girl’s girl.”
While reliable sources stated from the start that both Ariana and Ethan’s previous relationships had already ended, the tabloids went wild crafting a scandalous storyline of Ariana being a homewrecker. But as Ariana revealed on Zach’s show, it wasn’t that simple. “We know this about the tabloids, and about the media — am I crazy? Don’t we know this?” she mused.
When asked what she wishes people understood, Ariana dished “Plenty.” While keeping lips sealed on specifics, she voiced immense “frustration” over watching her loved ones get misunderstood in such a volatile media storm. It was even emotionally traumatic for Ariana to revisit during the interview.
No doubt Ariana poured her tabloid torment into her new album Eternal Sunshine, dropping March 8th. She described the vulnerable writing process as her most emotional yet. While the songs say both “everything and nothing” about her drama, one thing is clear – Ariana isn’t holding anything back in standing up for her truth and defending those she cares about amid the ravenous tabloids.
