Jimin’s solo debut single “Like Crazy” has set even another record by being the first song by a Korean artist to reach number one on Deezer’s Top 100 list globally. Since its debut over a year ago, the bouncy pop hit has broken multiple records across various worldwide music platforms, demonstrating its vast appeal.

After already topping the iTunes charts in many countries and peaking within the top 10 of Spotify’s daily global songs list, “Like Crazy” ascended to number one on Deezer’s worldwide tally on February 18th. In doing so, Jimin became the sole Korean performer to reach the top spot on this chart. He reclaimed the number one position two days later on February 20th, marking the only instance of a Korean artist having a two-day reign at the top.

This recent achievement with Deezer adds to Jimin’s lengthy list of firsts and records set as a solo Korean musician venturing out on his own. Within the top three largest music markets of the United States, Japan, and United Kingdom, some of Jimin’s previous milestones include being the first Korean soloist to rank number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Artist 100 charts in both the US and Japan. He remains the only Korean soloist to accomplish this feat. Additionally, Jimin achieved the distinguished honor of having the first Korean solo song to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Jimin’s massive global success extends beyond chart accomplishments. He holds the record as the only artist worldwide with multiple songs reaching number one on iTunes charts across regions. Within the United States, Jimin surpassed 500,000 monthly listeners on Pandora faster than any other Korean solo act. Commercially, Jimin’s debut album shipped over one million copies in Korea within 24 hours. On streaming platforms, the album was the first by a Korean soloist to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.

In achieving the number one spot on Deezer’s Top 100 worldwide chart, Jimin continues cementing his place in history as one of the most successful Korean solo musicians globally of all time. He now stands alongside Japanese-American artist Mitski as the only Asian acts to rise to the number one peak on this prestigious digital chart. Jimin’s boundary-breaking accomplishments exemplify how far Korean popular music has come in garnering immense popularity on a worldwide scale.
