Taylor Swift had a tremendous 2023, being named the most streamed artist globally on Spotify. To show her gratitude to fans, she decided to release a previously unheard song called “You’re Losing Me” on streaming services.

Swift revealed she was “unreal” about receiving the Spotify honor, calling it the “best birthday/holiday gift” from her fans all over the world. Eager to repay their support, she chose to drop “You’re Losing Me”, which had only been available on a special CD release of her album “Midnights” so far.

The emotional ballad details the painful ending of a long romance. Lyrics discuss trying to understand each other but fears not finding a cure in time. Fans speculated it refers to Swift’s split from boyfriend Joe Alwyn last spring. In the chorus, she wonders if it’s time to accept the relationship is slipping away.

Spotify had teased Swift’s status as top artist for 2023 with clues around the world. Her albums “Midnights” and “Lover” ranked highly streamed too. Bad Bunny came in second overall, while Miley Cyrus’ hit “Flowers” took the top song spot globally.
