Spotify are leveling up their promo game for independent and developing artists. The streaming giant just announced that the coveted Spotify Countdown Page will now be accessible to any act with over 5,000 monthly listeners in the last month.
Previously only reserved for bigger names, the Countdown Page is a one-stop-shop for all your pre-drop needs. Fans can pre-save your album here, get sneak peeks at tracklists, jam out to snippets (aka “Clips”), shop merchandise, and literally watch the clock until launch. It’s like a digital release party anyone can attend.
And it works – data shows over 80% of pre-saves happen in the week leading up to drop day. Having that Countdown Page pumps those numbers up too, with clips driving double the pre-saves. Once the album is out, a good 70% of pre-savers will be bumping those fresh tracks all week long.
“With this in mind, we took a step back as a company to come up with ways that we can help artists build momentum with fans during this period and elevate the album as an artistic statement,” revealed Sam Duboff,
it’s just one more tool in Spotify’s arsenal to champion new music. Between the New Release hub, personal Countdown pages, and on-demand clips, they’re stitching it all together into a smooth pre-drop machine.
