Spotify is expanding its offerings in the booming audiobook market with the launch of a new subscription focused solely on unlocking audio literature. Their new Audiobooks Access plan costs $9.99 per month and grants users 15 hours of listening to titles from Spotify’s extensive catalog.
While this new option provides a dedicated way to access audiobooks through the Spotify platform, their existing Premium subscription remains the better overall value for most users. For only $1 more at $10.99, Premium delivers the same 15 hours of audiobook listening but also removes all ads from music and podcast playlists. Unless audiobooks are the sole reason for subscribing, the ad-free experience and additional content included with Premium make it the smarter choice.
The company shared that traffic to audiobook pages from free users has increased 45% daily since integrating the format last year. This surge of interest demonstrates the demand and growth opportunity in digital audiobooks. The launch of Audiobooks Access caters to listeners seeking an option focused just on audio stories, while Premium continues to package them alongside music and talk for the best entertainment value.
For now, the new audiobook-centric plan is solely available in the United States. Spotify houses over 200,000 audio titles in its enormous catalog, giving subscribers plenty to listen to regardless of subscription level. Their expanding lineup of plans shows a commitment to gaining ground in audiobook streaming as consumer habits evolve.
