Drake recently announced that he was going to open his vault, comprised of unseen works, by uploading 100GB of unreleased footage and songs onto a new website.
Through the website 100gigs.org, Drake gave his fans never-before-seen access to studio sessions, behind-the-scenes videos, rough artwork concepts, and more dating back to March through early June of this year. Included in the trove of extras were three new songs featuring collaborators like Young Thug, 21 Savage, and Latto.
Die-hard Drake supporters were looking forward to a view into his creative process. Videos on the site show the artist working in the recording studio with frequent collaborators such as Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib. There was unseen footage from popular music videos and album eras shared too.
That came as a surprise for so many, given Drake had kept pretty low-key over the last few months. Earlier this year he had a lively back-and-forth with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar but he hadn’t released new music since then apart from some features.
With the ‘vault’ now open to fans, Drake shared some light-hearted behind-the-scenes moments and three brand-new tracks. It was a treat for fans who seemed to want more new material from this chart-topping artist—to show his appreciation for the supporters while he is away from the limelight.
