BTS and UNICEF are teaming up to help kids feel good and empower themselves. Recently, they announced their “Love Myself” campaign. UNICEF wants all kids to get support when they’re feeling down. They want kids to live somewhere they feel safe and happy.
In a video, BTS leader RM had an important message. He said “Now, more than ever, we must try to remember who we are and face who we are. We must try to love ourselves and imagine the future.” RM wants us to really like ourselves. And to imagine all the great things we can do in the future.
At the end of the video, all seven BTS members – Jin, J-Hope, Suga, RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook – said something we should all think about. They said “Life goes on, so let’s keep living!”
BTS and their label BIGHIT Music started working with UNICEF in 2017. Their slogan is “Love yourself and make the world better with that love.” They’ve raised over $6.6 million so far! Some of that money comes from fans buying BTS merch and albums. On Sunday they had a big online event called “Today’s Heart Relay.” People could send digital picture cards to show their support. In 2021 alone, BTS helped raise $3.6 million! And in 2019 they made a special music video and set up stands at their concerts.
As of December, the seven BTS guys started serving in the South Korean military for 18 months, like all men have to do there. Jimin and Jungkook were the last to begin in mid-December.
BTS said ““We started LOVE MYSELF as a way to reach young people and help improve their lives and rights. During the process, we also strove to ‘LOVE MYSELF’ ourselves, and we as a team and as individuals grew as well. We hope that many people felt how the love received from others can become the power that allows them to love themselves.” They want everyone to feel good about who they are!
