Olivia Rodrigo thrilled fans with her first-ever Philippines concert on Saturday, but she also gave a special gift to local women in need. The Grammy winner played to a sold-out crowd at the massive Philippine Arena in Bocaue, wowing spectators with hit songs from her breakout albums.
However, this was no ordinary show – all profits from the “Sour” singer’s Manila stop would support Jhpiego, a non-profit working to improve women’s health. “I got to visit the organization while I was in Manila and was so impressed by the work they are doing providing healthcare to women and girls in the Philippines. It was the most special show and the most meaningful trip. to say I’m grateful doesn’t even cut it! Mahal kita.”
Rodrigo’s compassion was on full display. Enchanted audience members were treated not only to her passionate vocals but also to the knowledge that their ticket dollars would now aid Jhpiego’s important mission. The 21-year-old wanted to leave more than memories during her historic debut in the Philippines.
Jhpiego CEO Kathleen Keahey praised Rodrigo’s initiative, saying “Her generosity and commitment to women’s health will make a lasting impact. Together, we’re helping more young women and girls access the care and support they need!” While fans celebrated a successful tour kick-off, there was another victory – the chance to empower those most in need. For Olivia Rodrigo, rocking out in Manila was about both music and giving back.
