Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are having fun capitalizing on a trending TikTok format after their surprise duet at a recent concert. Rodrigo was performing the last show of her Guts World Tour at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles when she invited Roan on stage. Both have been friends for years, and Rodrigo is a big fan of Roan’s song “Hot to Go!”.
After getting the crowd all revved up with their high-energy performance of the song, Rodrigo and Roan really wanted to have some fun by filming a lighthearted TikTok video. In this particular running gag, often pulled off by someone on the app, the two of them recreated a joke wherein an artist will perform another artist’s song while performing at that particular artist’s show. In the video, Rodrigo says she hopes Roan will sing “Hot to Go!” before Roan jokes “this is an Olivia Rodrigo concert!” Unlike other versions of this trend, their video actually showed footage from the concert where they did perform the song together.
The TikTok came just days after a rehearsal clip of Rodrigo practicing “Hot to Go!” with her band went viral. Previously, Rodrigo had brought Roan out as a special guest when she opened some dates on the Guts tour. The friendship and mutual admiration were clear as Rodrigo sweetly introduced Roan and said how much she loves the song before their epic stage duet. That’s been a fun way for the artists to engage with fans and cash in on a playful social media trend.
