Drake Fires Shots at Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, and Rick Ross in New Diss Track

It was unusual weekend in hip hop as rivalries seemingly reignited between some genres top talents. On Saturday, multi-platinum recording artist and entrepreneur DJ Akademiks had social media buzzing as he previewed two leak tracks believed to be aimed at fellow chart-topping artists.

The first record previewed by Akademiks, tentatively titled “Push Ups,” contains bars directed at a wide range of fellow stars, including Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Metro Boomin. On the cut, Drake references the size of Lamar’s shoe size and questions the financial terms of his deal with Top Dawg Entertainment. Drake also sends bars Metro Boomin’s way, telling him to “shut your ho ass up and make some drums.”

Hours later, Akademiks provided a first listen of Rick Ross’ response cut “Champagne Moments.” On the track, Ross takes jabs at Drake, suggesting he stole Lil Wayne’s flow and hinting the OVO innovator has had plastic surgery to alter his nose size. Ross further pressed the issue on social media, posting edited photos of Drake’s face on his Instagram story.

Naturally, this prompted a social media reply from Drake himself. Over the weekend, he shared screenshots purporting to show a text exchange with his mother in which she jokes about the alleged nose job. Drake labeled Ross “angry and racist,” stating he had taken bookings at high school proms out of desperation.

While the leak tracks haven’t materialized on official streaming platforms as of publishing, they offered a startling glimpse into the escalating behind-the-scenes drama between icons who’ve closely collaborated in the past. Industry eyes will be focused this week on whether any more response records materialize publicly or if reconciliation is possible between multi-platinum forces that have defined hip hop’s current era.
