Canadian pop star Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, has announced the postponement of his highly anticipated Australian stadium tour scheduled for this November. In a statement, the musician cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for delaying the six-show run that was set to kick off in Brisbane on November 20th.

Tesfaye said he was “deeply disappointed” to have to reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour dates but assured fans he “can’t wait to be there” once the situation is resolved. Ticketek and promoter Live Nation also expressed regret over the decision but pledged to work closely with the singer to lock in a new tour schedule for next year. All tickets purchased for the original November shows will remain valid for the rescheduled concerts.

The “After Hours Til Dawn” headline tour was set to be The Weeknd’s biggest production down under to date, visiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and finishing in New Zealand across eight stadium performances. However, the unspecified circumstances out of his control have forced a delay for the highly-anticipated run.

Having recently wrapped up touring throughout Europe, Latin America and the US, Australian fans of the three-time Grammy winner will now have to wait a bit longer to see him bring his acclaimed albums to life on home soil. Both Ticketek and The Weeknd assured supporters they would provide further details on the new touring plans as soon as possible. Only time will tell when Tesfaye is finally able to cross Australia off his must-visit list.
