Zayn Malik has opened up about life on the farm he owns just outside Philadelphia. In a recent radio interview, the singer discussed some of the animals he cares for on the rural property, including the role his young daughter Khai plays in the process.
Malik has lived on the farm for close to 6 years now, enjoying the quiet countryside lifestyle when not working on music in the city. He keeps chickens, a pair of turtles, and several dogs and cats scattered across the acreage. The musician has ambitions to expand the farm further in the future, perhaps adding horses once his little girl is older.
“it’s a lot of work looking after a loads of animals,” Malik commented. He finds naming each animal important for forming a connection. Recently, his 3-year-old daughter has started helping her father choose names, making it a fun bonding activity for the pair.
Khai also seems to be developing an innate musical talent like her dad. Malik marvels at how well she retains songs, formatting lyrics into her own style at such a young age. She even knows that her “Baba” works in music. Friends and family report Khai’s frequent questions of whether her father is singing whenever a song is played.
As Malik prepares for the May release of his upcoming album “Room Under the Stairs”, we can sense his family life on the farm provides inspiration and joy outside of his chart-topping career.
