The 2023 MAMA Awards concluded its two-day celebration in Tokyo, Japan this week. Held at the Tokyo Dome Stadium, the award show is a highly anticipated event that recognizes excellence and achievement in music.
Day one saw several deserving artists take home prestigious honors. Leading the winners was global superstar group BTS, who received not one but two awards for Icon of the Year and Worldwide Fans’ Choice. Fellow K-pop acts SEVENTEEN, TWICE and newcomers Zerobaseone were also acknowledged in the fans’ choice category.
As the results were broadcast, devoted fans immediately showed their support on social media platforms. One shared a video of BTS member Jungkook giving an acceptance speech for their Icon of the Year award. Others congratulated the group on winning their 74th Daesang trophy to date. Excitement was high amongst artists and their dedicated followers.
The conclusion of the two-day event saw many more achievements recognized. On the second night, rookie girl group NewJeans swept the main categories including Artist, Song, and Album of the Year for their debut releases. Additionally, acts like SEVENTEEN, BTS, BLACKPINK, AKMU and more received awards for their talents. ZEROBASEONE and tripleS continued to impress as Best New Male and Female Artists.
Across both nights, the 2023 MAMA Awards celebrated the movers and shakers in music from Asia and around the world over the past year. Devoted fans look forward to seeing who will be honored at next year’s highly anticipated ceremony.
