After wrapping up her highly successful Eras Tour in Sydney, Australia, tensions arose between Taylor Swift’s entourage and a paparazzo in the early morning hours. According to reports, as Swift and her father Scott disembarked from their yacht and made their way down Neutral Bay Wharf around 2:30 AM, a confrontation took place between Swift’s security and photographer Ben McDonald.

McDonald alleged that without provocation, 72-year old Scott Swift “charged in” and struck him in the face. As a veteran photographer with over two decades of experience, McDonald stated he had never before been physically assaulted on the job. However, a representative for Swift painted a different picture, asserting that two individuals were aggressively pushing and grabbing at security personnel while also threatening violence towards a female staff member.

Following a month-long investigation, New South Wales police have now concluded there will be no charges filed against Scott Swift related to the reported assault. Video footage from the scene shows Swift and her entourage, concealed by an umbrella, walking along the wharf amidst flashing cameras. Voices are heard accusing each other of making physical contact, though it remains unclear if the video captured the alleged incident itself.

While the facts of what truly transpired are still ambiguous, one thing is for certain – Taylor Swift’s enormously successful Eras Tour left Sydney on a tense note, with conflicting reports surrounding a quarrel in the wee hours after her final show. As “Papa Swift,” Scott has been a constant companion for his talented daughter throughout her global tour. He promptly departed Australia after the late-night run-in on the wharf.
