In a touching moment during Zayn Malik’s Stairway to the Sky tour stop in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the former One Direction bandmates reunited on stage.
As Malik performed at the Shrine Expo Hall, he told the crowd, “Tonight is kind of special. An old friend of mine is here supporting me tonight.” He then gestured to the balcony, adding, “He’s sitting somewhere here. I don’t want to give his location away, but Louis is here tonight.”
Fans quickly spotted Tomlinson in the audience, and video captured him tapping his heart in response to Malik’s shoutout. According to reports, Malik later dedicated songs to Tomlinson during the show.
This marks the first time the two singers have appeared together publicly since attending the funeral of their late 1D bandmate Liam Payne in November. Payne tragically passed away in October after a fall in Argentina.
The emotional reunion between Malik and Tomlinson comes as Malik resumes his Stairway to the Sky tour, which was postponed following Payne’s death. The L.A. show was the penultimate date, with the tour wrapping up on Friday.
