Spotify’s new Partner Program, launched Thursday, offers podcasters new avenues for monetizing video content. The program, initially announced in November, is now available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. It provides qualifying creators with opportunities beyond advertising revenue, including direct payouts for video podcasts.
This move positions Spotify to compete more directly with YouTube in the video space. The company reports strong early adoption, with over 65% of eligible podcasts already enrolled. Participating shows include Smart Money Happy Hour, The Paranormal Podcast, The Makeshift Podcast, and Girls Rewatch Podcast, among others.
In addition to the Partner Program, Spotify has introduced ad-free video podcast viewing for Premium subscribers. The platform also launched Podcast Clips, short-form video previews designed to promote discovery and engagement. According to Spotify, these clips have proven 33% more effective than standard audio previews in converting browsers to listeners. This initiative underscores Spotify’s commitment to expanding its video podcast offerings and providing creators with enhanced tools for audience growth.
