During a recent appearance on The Today Show, Melanie Brown, aka Mel B, dropped a major hint about the future of the iconic 90s girl group the Spice Girls. When asked by host Hoda Kotb about the possibility of a reunion, Mel B said fans should expect “some really good news” to be announced in a few weeks regarding all five original members.

While keeping exact details under wraps for now, Mel B expressed her excitement, saying the upcoming project will be “the gift that keeps on giving.” Coordinating the schedules of five very busy women who are all now mothers presents its challenges, but Mel B assured listeners it will be well worth the wait.

Forming in 1994, the Spice Girls took the world by storm two years later with their massive breakthrough hit “Wannabe.” Their catchy blend of pop rhythms and messages of empowerment made them global superstars. Despite pursuing solo careers over the years, the fans have never lost their passion for the group.

Their last performance with all five members was at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony. While Victoria Beckham has sat out recent reunion tours, Mel B hinted this time even Posh Spice will be involved. For devoted “Spice Girls” fans young and old, the tantalizing news has renewed hope that the power of girl power is stronger than ever. According to Mel B, more details on just what these ambitious ladies have cooked up will soon be revealed. It seems the spice is about to be reintroduced to life once more.
