The 2024 presidential election has left many in the music industry feeling sad. Former Donald Trump’s win dealt a devastating blow to the hopes of those who had supported his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. Sabrina Carpenter has spoken out about her anguish and attempted to offer solace to disheartened fans.
On Wednesday night, Carpenter stepped onto the stage at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, addressing the crowd with heartfelt sincerity. “I hope we can be a moment of peace for you, a moment of safety […] Sorry about our country and to the women in here I love you so so so so so much & I really hope for the rest of this night that you can enjoy yourselves because you absolutely deserve it.”
Despite the disheartening political landscape, Carpenter’s efforts to engage voters throughout the election cycle have been noteworthy. HeadCount.org, a non-partisan voter registration organization, reported that Carpenter mobilized more voters than any other artist partnering with them this year. She inspired an impressive 35,814 new voter registrations and motivated another 263,087 to take further action, including checking their registration status and finding their polling locations.
