Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts World Tour” made its first stop in Sydney last week, bringing her passionate pop tunes to fans across Australia. While many moments from the show will be remembered fondly, one interaction in particular has gained viral attention for its awkward hilarity.
During the Sydney SuperDome performance, Rodrigo engaged with attendees as she often does, hoping to make strong personal connections through the barrier of stardom. Spotting a smiling youthful duo in the crowd, she assumed they were a cute couple and tried to include them in the experience. “You guys are so cute, I have a fun thing to ask – would you give us a kiss?” she requested enthusiastically.
However, the targeted boy immediately shook his head and mouthed a revelation: “She’s my sister.” Pandemonium understandably erupted as the full context dawned on everyone. Rodrigo reeled back with comical embarrassment, shouting “She’s your sister? Oh shit, nevermind!” into her mic. The audience roared with amused relief that they weren’t the only ones caught off guard.
After the show, the sibling duo addressed the moment on social media with humor. While not the typical meet-cute, their brief viral fame showed Rodrigo’s charm lies in her genuine, albeit imperfect, attempts to connect. For her part, the star commented a sincere apology, handling the flub with grace.
