The popular Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses just got a helpful upgrade for Apple Music fans. Previously, playing music through the glasses required using your phone’s Apple Music app and touch controls on the frames. This new update allows hands-free control using voice commands.

Wearers can now say “Hey Meta, play song/playlist/artist” and have their selection start instantly. No more fumbling to find the right track. Long presses on the frames also automatically cue up personalized playlists based on listening history.

In addition to music, the update expands communication capabilities. Video calls on WhatsApp and Messenger can now be viewed through the glasses, improving on previous photo/video sharing to those apps.

An added voice command, “Hey Meta, what song is this?” identifies the currently playing track. While not as useful as song recognition in public, it’s handy for discovering new artists from unfamiliar playlists.

Updating is simple from the Meta View app. Go to Settings, select ‘Your Glasses’, then Updates. Make sure the glasses are on and connected to the phone via Bluetooth. If no update is shown but the app claims an older version, check the app store for an app update first. With these new features, the Ray-Ban Stories just got even smarter.
