Jimmy Fallon is no stranger to spicy wings. But when he sat down for his second round of Hot Ones with host Sean Evans, he was in for a challenge like no other.

While Fallon has incorporated the Hot Ones segment into his Tonight Show countless times, experiencing the gauntlet of increasingly spicy chicken wings firsthand is a whole different ballgame. And as anyone who’s tried the infamous “Da Bomb Beyond Insanity” hot sauce knows, things can go south fast.

Fallon clearly remembers the night Selena Gomez faced off against the wings in 2019. After braving sauce after sauce, “Da Bomb” pushed the singer over the edge. Fallon recalls Gomez booking it out of the studio and locking herself in her dressing room, spewing vomit into the sink. When he went to check on her, she told him to “get the f**k out,” spit dripping from her mouth.

The encounter understandably soured their friendship for some time. But like any good spicy wing, the burn eventually subsides. Fallon and Gomez have long since made amends, and she recently appeared on The Tonight Show alongside her Only Murders in the Building co-stars.

This time, Fallon was wiser – and came armed with gallons of milk. But no amount of dairy could prepare him for wings slathered in extracts with names like “The Last Dab.” By the final sauces, tears were streaming down his face as he gasped for breath between bites.
