The 2025 Grammy nominations have landed, and the music world is talking—not just about the nominees, but about who didn’t make the cut. This year’s list of snubs is surprisingly long, including some of the biggest names in pop and beyond.

Pop Powerhouses Overlooked:

Both Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa, typically Grammy favorites, found themselves facing unexpected shutouts. Grande’s Eternal Sunshine, her latest critically acclaimed album, missed out on an Album of the Year nomination, a surprising turn given her previous success in the category. Similarly, Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism was completely blanked, receiving zero nominations despite the album’s positive reception.

Hip-Hop and Global Sounds Ignored:

Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss,” was surprisingly overlooked. The song’s technical brilliance and lyrical prowess seemingly weren’t enough to secure a nomination. Tyla, who triumphed at last year’s Grammys with the Best African Performance award, was similarly snubbed this year, despite releasing a well-received debut album.

Genre-Bending Artists Left Out:

Hozier, saw his hit “Too Sweet” ignored by the Academy. The song’s chart success and catchy melody apparently weren’t enough to sway voters. Tinashe, also missed out on a nomination for her viral hit “Nasty.”

These snubs highlight the often-controversial nature of award shows and the inherent subjectivity of the nomination process. While some artists celebrate their nominations, others are left wondering what more they could have done.
