Avicii fans from around the world joined in Stockholm yesterday for a special cause – bidding on personal items left behind by the beloved late musician to support mental health initiatives in his name.
Over 250 unique effects, instruments, and everyday possessions donated by Avicii’s family went under the hammer at Auktionsverk auction house. Bidding wars broke out for coveted items like the 2015 Fender Telecaster guitar Tim was known to play in the studio, which sold for a staggering 240,000SEK.
Other hot auction lots were a custom Martin acoustic, signature Sennheiser headphones, and a cap the Swede wore representing his favorite baseball team. Even rare artistic portraits of Avicii drawn by famed photographer Mark Seliger found new homes.
The emotional event saw many younger fans in the audience place their first ever bids. Auctioneer Cecilia Gave was moved by the cross-generational support: “It was so honorable to see Tim’s legacy impacting a new generation.”
By day’s end, over $750,000 had been raised for the Tim Bergling Foundation – an astounding total that will help the charity’s important work increasing mental health awareness and supporting those struggling.
