 Ed Sheeran has been working hard in the studio recently, but don’t expect any new music from him just yet. In a recent interview, when asked about his current creative process, Sheeran explained “I’m working on new songs, but nothing will be released this year.”

The singer-songwriter is taking some time away from the studio spotlight after a hugely productive 2023 and 2024. Last year he dropped two albums – his sixth full-length studio album “=” (pronounced “Equals”) and a collaboration project titled “Autumn Variations” made alongside The National’s Aaron Dessner. While “=” earned Sheeran a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album, he’s been focused on touring in 2023 to support the new music.

Sheeran spent much of this year traveling the world on his “=” tour. He’s currently wrapping up dates in North America this summer before heading to Europe. The busy touring schedule comes after releasing two albums back-to-back last year. Sheeran said being constantly in the studio and on the road was “quite a lot” so he’s taking a break from new music for now to enjoy performing live.

Fans will have to wait patiently for what’s next from Ed Sheeran musically. For now, you can catch him performing fan favorites from across his acclaimed discography throughout the rest of his worldwide tour dates.
