Offspring superfan Ed Sheeran had one of the coolest music festival moments ever last weekend at BottleRock Napa Valley. The singer jumped on stage during the legendary punk band’s headlining set for an epic collaboration fans had been dreaming of for decades.

Video from the Sunday night show captures the pure joy on Sheeran’s face as hewas performing. “Have you seen the tattoo?” he excitedly asks the group, lifting his shirt to reveal an Offspring skull logo inked on his ribs.

As it turns out, the English singer has been obsessed with Offspring since he was a little kid. “It was the first-ever album that I owned,” Sheeran told the band. The 2000 release was his introduction to their music and one song stood out above the rest.

The first album I ever bought was the @offspring – Conspiracy of One. I used to pretend to be in their band in the mirror and sing along to the album when I was 9, mostly to their song Million Miles Away as it was the first song of theirs I heard. I mentioned it in an interview and Noodles / Dexter got in touch with me when we found out we were all playing the same festival, to see if I wanted to get on stage and sing it. It was an instant yes obvz. Really felt like living out a childhood dream thank you for having me up there guys. Music is a wild ride, every day I’m so grateful to be living my dream in reality. Hope you enjoy the vid x

Music destiny seemed to bring the longtime fans together that night. After chatting backstage, the two artists jumped right into a rehearsal. With Sheeran strategizing the call-and-response vocals just like he’d imagined for years, they seamlessly traded lines in the impromptu jam session.
