Doja Cat’s headlining set at Manchester’s soggy Parklife Festival this past Sunday didn’t go exactly as planned when she broke out into an unexpected a cappella segment. The singer found herself wading through a sea of silence from the soaked audience when she belted out lyrics to Hilary Duff’s 2003 hit “Come Clean.”

Doja was boldly performing amid torrential downpours under a clear rain poncho, showcasing her daring stage style consisting of thigh-high white boots and a matching thong and crop top. Seemingly taking inspiration from the stormy weather, she slipped in Duff’s nostalgic melody about wanting to “feel the thunder.” But the drenched crowd offered no backup vocals, leaving Doja visibly stunned by their lack of pop culture knowledge.

“B—h you don’t know that s—t?! What the f—k! Wow. Wow,” she candidly blurted out in mock frustration. It seems the electronic anthem has faded further into the past than Doja anticipated from the audience.

Now with her UK summer tour in full swing, Doja will look to fill more stadiums with fans who know every lyric as she hits cities like Glasgow, Birmingham, and London in the coming days.
