Instagram is set to see a significant boost in advertising revenue, with projections showing a 24% increase to $32 billion in the United States for the upcoming year, according to new research from eMarketer.

The forecast comes amid potential major shifts in the social media landscape, particularly surrounding TikTok’s uncertain future in the American market. With 148 million users in the US, Instagram appears positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Key insights from the report highlight a dramatic transformation in how users engage with the platform. Jasmine Enberg, principal analyst at eMarketer, noted that video content now dominates Instagram, with users spending nearly two-thirds of their time watching videos.

The potential TikTok ban could be a game-changer for Instagram’s advertising strategy. Analysts suggest the platform could capture over 20% of advertising dollars currently allocated to TikTok if a ban is implemented.

A critical legal battle is currently unfolding, with TikTok challenging potential restrictions at the Supreme Court. The platform is fighting to overturn or delay a mandate that would force it to be sold or shut down in the United States.

This comes at a complex political moment, with the potential for significant changes in the social media ecosystem depending on the outcome of ongoing legal and regulatory challenges.
