Hybe announced that BTS leader RM will be releasing his second solo studio album titled Right Place, Wrong Person on May 24. In a statement, the label described the album as embodying facets of RM as a solo artist distinct from albums released as part of BTS. They stated the album would delve into RM’s authentic essence and appreciated potential attention and support for the project.
A press release shared that RM contributed to writing the lyrics for all eleven tracks on the album. It was described as exploring the relatable sensation of feeling like a stranger or out of place. This will be RM’s second solo album following Indigo, released in December 2022, which included songs with features from artists such as Youjeen, Anderson .Paak, and Erykah Badu. RM had also previously released a mini-album in 2018 titled Mono.
At the current time, RM and his fellow BTS bandmates are fulfilling their required military service commitments in South Korea. They are expected to reunite as a group in 2025 after all members complete their service. In an interview in August 2023, RM stated that while doing solo work he sees it as like a vacation before returning to activities with BTS and their fans, known as ARMY.
RM has previously found success with his solo work. His debut studio album Indigo, released in December 2022, attained worldwide popularity upon its release. The album debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. With his second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person upcoming, RM looks to build on the worldwide fanbase and achievements of his first solo project Indigo.
