In a game-changing cover story, Billie Eilish pulls no punches opening up to Rolling Stone about sex, sexuality, mental health struggles and environmental activism with her signature Billie flair. The conversation touched on the singer’s ongoing exploration of sexuality, which she addresses openly and unapologetically. “I basically talk about sex any time I possibly can. That’s literally my favourite topic,” she reveals, adding that she finds societal discomfort around the topic frustrating.
Her upcoming album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” reflects this openness. The title track “Lunch” proves she’s ready to get down, comparing intimacy to an all-you-can-eat buffet. Eilish also discusses the importance of self-pleasure, particularly for those struggling with body image issues. “TMI, but self-pleasure is an enormous, enormous part of my life, and a huge, huge help for me,” she says, emphasizing its positive impact on her relationship with her body. “People should be jerking it, man. I can’t stress it enough, as somebody with extreme body issues and dysmorphia that I’ve had my entire life.”
However, the conversation takes a surprising turn when the topic shifts to whales. Eilish expresses a deep-seated fear of these majestic creatures, finding their size and sounds “terrifying.” “How can anybody just accept that a whale exists, y’all? Those things are enormous. The noises they make. That shit is terrifying to me. Ew! Terrifying.”
Billie’s new album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT will be released in 20 days on May 17. You can read the full interview HERE
