The buzz and speculation around one brief interaction at the Golden Globes refuses to die down. As award winners like Paul Giamatti were celebrating their big wins, fans, and viewers were feverishly dissecting a moment between Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and their friend Keleigh Sperry. During a commercial break, cameras caught Selena rushing over to their table with what seemed to be juicy gossip.
Lip readers jumped into action, concluding Selena was saying “I asked for a picture with him, and she said no.” Speculation ran rampant that “him” referred to nominee Timothée Chalamet, and “she” was his girlfriend Kylie Jenner denying the photo request. Social media exploded with takes on the alleged drama between Selena and Kylie’s reprising. However, sources close to Selena have shut down the claims.
According to her inner circle, Selena’s brief chat with Taylor and Keleigh had nothing to do with Timothée or Kylie. She didn’t even see or speak to that pair at the event. Meanwhile, the rumored feud was playfully addressed by those involved. Kylie commented “no shade towards Selena” and Selena replied she’s a Kylie fan.
Now Timothée himself has weighed in, telling TMZ the stories are “outrageous.” When asked directly if he and Selena are cool, the actor simply replied, “Yeah, of course.” He confirmed there is no beef between any of the named stars.
As the truth remains elusive to outsiders, Selena appears focused elsewhere – like smooching boyfriend Benny Blanco as seen in her post-Globes photo. It seems this “drama” was much ado about nothing, invented from speculation rather than fact. While fans will speculate, sometimes the simplest answers are the real ones.
