Apple Music has launched a new feature called Set Lists that allows artists to showcase their live performances directly on their Apple Music profiles. The tool enables musicians to share details of past concerts as well as upcoming tour dates by creating playlists of the songs they played during a particular live show.
Creating a Set List is a simple process within the Apple Music for Artists dashboard. Artists can select tracks to include either by searching or pasting in Apple Music links. The platform also supports including cover songs and collaborations to provide fans an authentic glimpse of the live set. Once created, the playlist can be scheduled for publication and tracks reordered to match the flow of the actual performance.
Set Lists are automatically published to an artist’s Apple Music profile page, as well as their Shazam profile and any associated event pages. Having the playlist displayed prominently helps inform current fans of past shows and pique the interest of new listeners. Artists first need to upload an image to their profile, which then serves as the cover art for any Set Lists.
In addition, Apple Music integrates the new feature with the concert discovery platform Bandsintown. Connecting the two accounts allows Set Lists to also promote upcoming tour dates and improves show discoverability. Fans receive notifications about upcoming concerts in their area directly through the Bandsintown app.
Artists have control over their Set Lists with options to hide or delete playlists no longer desired. However, deleted playlists will be permanently removed from all platforms as well as any user libraries that had previously saved them. Hidden playlists remain accessible to those fans who added them.
Set Lists display based on popularity to allow easy browsing of an artist’s repertoire over time. The new tool furthers Apple’s goal of strengthening bonds between performers and listeners, providing another way for fans to engage with favorite acts both online and at live shows. It marks the latest promotional feature after analytics tools already available through the Apple Music for Artists dashboard.
