Apple Music users on Android may soon gain a highly requested feature for shifting their music libraries between services. Eagle-eyed testers of the app’s latest beta uncovered references to library and playlist import capabilities from other platforms.

As spotted first on Reddit and since confirmed, the beta code contains prompts meant to bring saved music and self-made playlists from other services into an Apple Music collection. Interface screenshots show options within the app and settings to assimilate external collections.

While still tentative, the feature’s presence in the testing phase implies Apple is trialing the addition. Not every beta tester can access the prompts yet, signaling a staggered rollout is underway to evaluate different experiences. If positively received, the functionality could graduate from experiment to standard for Android and beyond.

Seamless music migration between platforms has long relied on paid third parties offering limited solutions. By absorbing such capabilities internally, Apple stands to significantly enhance switching between services for users tired of cobbled workarounds or subscription feeds. Only continued development will be revealed if the prototype proves polished and persistent enough for a final product launch. But the ongoing beta offers hope, this long-requested convenience may soon find a permanent home.
