Los Angeles is receiving a massive boost from tech giants in its hour of need, with Google and YouTube leading a corporate relief charge that’s quickly gaining momentum.
The tech companies have committed $15 million to support local organizations struggling in the aftermath of recent disasters. YouTube CEO Neal Mohan emphasized the region’s significance, noting that Los Angeles is not just a location, but the epicenter of entertainment and storytelling.
The donation will support critical organizations including the Emergency Network Los Angeles, American Red Cross, and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. Beyond financial aid, YouTube is also offering production facilities to help impacted creators rebuild their businesses once it’s safe to do so.
Other tech leaders are following suit. Snap’s leadership, including CEO Evan Spiegel, has already distributed $5 million to relief efforts, supporting groups like After the Fire USA and the California Fire Foundation.
Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have contributed $4 million, including cash donations and advertising credits across Facebook and Instagram platforms. Zuckerberg personally shared his support, activating Safety Check and helping over 400,000 people confirm their safety.
The corporate response isn’t limited to these companies. Entertainment giants including Disney, Netflix, Amazon, and Warner Bros.
