Former party anthem queen Kesha started the new year with unexpected streaming success. After performing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, her 2009 hit “Tik Tok” reached new heights on Spotify, recording nearly 2 million streams in a single day.

The achievement coincidentally landed 15 years after the song first topped the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2010. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the singer shared her excitement about the milestone with fans, thanking them for their continued support.

Beyond its recent streaming triumph, “Tik Tok” stands as one of Kesha’s most successful releases, maintaining its RIAA certification at 12-times platinum after spending nine weeks at number one.

The singer has recently updated the song’s opening verse during live performances, changing a reference to P Diddy in light of recent controversies. She plans to officially update these lyrics in a re-recorded version once legal permissions are secured.

The streaming success arrives as Kesha prepares to release new music. Her latest single “Joyride,” released in 2024, previews an upcoming album set for release on her newly established independent label, Kesha Records. She performed both songs during the New Year’s Eve broadcast.

This marks a strong start to 2025 for the artist, who launched her own record label last year to take greater control of her musical direction.
