The singer-songwriter announced a remarkable philanthropic effort on Tuesday, revealing a donation exceeding $2 million to organizations supporting women and girls. This contribution, sourced from tour proceeds, underscores Rodrigo’s commitment to positive global change.
Rodrigo’s generosity will benefit ten distinct charities across the globe, each focused on vital issues such as advancing female education, safeguarding reproductive health, and combating gender-based violence. This international initiative aligns perfectly with the tour’s itinerary, as Rodrigo visited each region represented by the selected organizations during her eight-month journey.
The list of beneficiaries highlights the global reach of Rodrigo’s philanthropy, including groups like the National Network of Abortion Funds in the US, Women’s Shelters Canada, and Women Against Violence Europe. Her support extends across Asia as well, encompassing organizations such as The Pratthanadee Foundation in Thailand, the Korea Foundation for Women, Harmony House Limited in Hong Kong, NPO Women’s Saya-Saya in Japan, Aidha in Singapore, Jhpiego in the Philippines, and Wesnet in Australia.
This act of giving marks the latest development in Rodrigo’s ongoing “Fund 4 Good” initiative, established at the tour’s outset in February. The fund has consistently channeled a portion of tour revenues towards community-based non-profits and abortion access funds located along the tour route.
As a Filipino-American, her October performance at the Philippine Arena was a momentous occasion. She expressed her pride in her heritage and the profound meaning of bringing her music to Filipino fans. In a touching gesture of solidarity, all net proceeds from this concert were dedicated to Jhpiego, a Philippines-based organization dedicated to women’s and girls’ healthcare.
