Candace Owens has set her sights on music Beyoncé, sparking a debate which began with a defense by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, and quickly escalated into a scathing assessment of the singer’s artistic integrity and perceived diva behavior.

It all started when Tina Knowles took to Instagram to refute rumors that her daughter, Beyoncé, had received payment for speaking at Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston, Texas, last month. Knowles vehemently denied the claims, emphasizing that Beyoncé had, in fact, covered her own expenses for the event.

Candace Owens responded on her eponymous podcast, expressing surprise at being seemingly targeted by Knowles. However, it wasn’t long before Owens trained her sights squarely on Beyoncé herself. With characteristic bluntness, Owens asserted that the singer’s last genuinely good album was 2011’s “4”, implying that Beyoncé’s subsequent work has been lacking.

According to Owens, the root of the issue lies in a shifting cultural landscape, where “authenticity pays” – a currency she believes Beyoncé can no longer muster. “Beyoncé does not remember what it means to be authentic anymore. She’s been playing a role of a queen for so long. She’s grown accustomed to visit the commonwealth every four years,” Owens remarked, suggesting that this perceived inauthenticity has become an integral part of Beyoncé’s public persona.
