Normani’s highly anticipated debut solo album, Dopamine, is set to drop on June 14th, and the singer is feeling stronger and more confident than ever. But her journey to this point hasn’t been without its challenges.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Normani opened up about the toll her time in Fifth Harmony took on her confidence. “’I might’ve felt inadequate or less than,” she confessed. However, she acknowledges that those struggles shaped her into the passionate performer she is today.
“I’m f—ing strong despite everything that I’ve endured,” she declared. Dopamine is a testament to her strength, resilience, and discipline. She’s found her way back to her true self, embracing her beauty and trusting her instincts.
Normani’s journey to solo stardom began with her show-stopping X Factor audition, which landed her a spot in Fifth Harmony alongside Ally, Dinah, Lauren, and Camila. Being thrust into fame at such a young age under “unrealistic circumstances” wasn’t always easy, as Normani hinted at struggles within the band.
“We were all so innocent and just trying our best with what we had,” Normani reflected. Though there were struggles, she’s proud of everything 5H achieved in their time together. However, she did admit, “It’s not like it was all bad — we had some really beautiful moments too.”
