Kate Hudson is adding a new title to her impressive resume – Billboard chart-topper. Hudson makes her solo music debut this week with her album “Glorious”, which earns the A-lister her first entries across multiple Billboard rankings.

The 12-track collection from Hudson’s new label HK Music/Virgin Records launches at #3 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and #10 on both the Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales tallies. “Glorious” also breaks into the Vinyl Albums chart at #19 and Independent Albums at #41. With estimated first-week sales of 8,000 total units, the self-titled effort got a boost from exclusive vinyl pressings sold through retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target.

Hudson’s breakthrough into the music industry even lands her at #5 on the Emerging Artists chart. She collaborated closely with legendary producer Linda Perry on many of the tracks. Hudson credits Perry, along with hitmakers Johan Carlsson and her fiancé Danny Fujikawa, for helping bring her creative vision to life over intense two-week writing sessions.

The Academy Award nominated actress reflected on the speedy songwriting process, saying Perry challenged her to keep the momentum going. “At one point, we wrote three songs in a day and Linda’s like, ‘I think we need to stop. I think we have two albums.’ We could have written forever,” Hudson shared.

While this marks Hudson’s first solo success on the charts, she previously gained exposure in 2012 via a guest role on “Glee”. Her character’s mashup performance of Lady Gaga and J-Lo songs made the Pop Digital Song Sales and Digital Song Sales rankings.
