Selena Gomez has been publicly dating music producer Benny Blanco since late 2023, but before finding love again she had planned to take motherhood into her own hands.
In a recent interview with Time Magazine, the 31-year-old opened up about accepting her independence after focusing so much on past relationships. “I tortured myself with being alone for about two years before ultimately accepting it,” Gomez admitted.
As she approached her 35th birthday, Gomez had come to terms with potentially being single long-term. Her plan? To adopt as a single mother if she remained unmarried.
Clearly, things have changed now that 36-year-old Benny Blanco is in the picture. While keeping the details private, Gomez gushed, “I don’t know where the future leads, but he won’t be leaving anytime soon,.”
Fans got another glimpse into their bond during Blanco and Gomez’s guest appearance on The Howard Stern Show last month. When asked about future goals, Blanco didn’t hesitate to say that fatherhood was high on his list.
The producer, who has several young nephews, revealed his affection for spending time with children.
Gomez has endured a very public on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber for eight years prior to finally calling it quits in 2018. Just five months later, Biebs married model Hailey Baldwin, who is now expecting their first child together.
