Taylor Swift fans might need to dust off their dancing shoes. The queen of heartbreak ballads has taken a surprising turn with an EDM remix of “Fortnight,” the lead single from her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department” (TTPD).

TTPD has been a sprawling project for Swift. Originally planned as a standard album, it’s morphed into a double album, “TTPD: The Anthology,” with additional demos released. Now, she’s injected a burst of energy with the help of Canadian DJ BLOND:ISH.

This collaboration came as a complete shock. BLOND:ISH, known for her infectious club beats, isn’t exactly a regular fixture in Swift’s melancholic world. But perhaps the singer felt her “tortured rhymes” needed a summer makeover. The DJ teased the unexpected pairing on Instagram, leaving fans guessing her “curveball.” Hours later, she celebrated the release with a playful toast, declaring, “We’ve been Swifties for a fortnight now.”

The original “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, is a contender for the album’s saddest song. It faces stiff competition from tracks like “”So Long London.”

In the original “Fortnight,” dark synths paint a picture of Swift reminiscing about a fleeting romance. Her ex has moved on, while she remains trapped in the “what-ifs,” a painful spiral Despite the song’s inherent melancholy, BLOND:ISH’s magic touch transforms it.
