In the wake of the senseless shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade earlier in February, Taylor Swift stepped up once again to assist those in need. Lisa Lopez-Galvan tragically lost her life in the mass shooting while celebrating with the community.
The GoFundMe page set up to help Lopez-Galvan’s family had a goal of $75,000. However, Swift significantly surpassed that, donating $100,000 in two gifts to offer comfort and financial support.
“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” Swift wrote, exemplifying her consistent commitment to supporting important causes over the years. She has donated over $1 million to organizations advocating for LGBTQ rights, gun control reform, and victims of sexual assault through the Equality Act and March For Our Lives.
Swift uses her platform to shine a light on inspirational stories and frequently visits sick fans in hospitals. She advocates for social issues featured in her Miss Americana documentary and endorses candidates promoting equal rights. Whether assisting relief efforts like the Red Cross or Kesha’s legal battle, Taylor Swift embraces her ability to make a difference.
While nothing can undo this tragedy, Swift’s generous response once more demonstrated looking out for others through compassion. It stands among her many acts over the years uplifting communities in their times of need.
