For over three years, Joe Rogan’s massively popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” called Spotify its home as part of an exclusive deal. However, Rogan and Spotify have now taken their relationship in a new direction by opening up distribution of the show.

Under the new multiyear agreement, Rogan’s podcast will remain available on Spotify. Additionally, it will now reach audiences across other major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and YouTube. Spotify’s goal with the change is to broaden the reach of the show while maintaining its role in helping to broaden its audience.

This revised approach marks a shift for Spotify, moving away from keeping content siloed exclusively on their service. Instead, they will leverage their position to facilitate partnerships that spread shows to more listeners. For Rogan, it means his candid discussions will find new ears wherever people access audio.

While financial details were not disclosed, reports estimate the new Spotify deal could be worth up to $250 million. Rogan himself will continue to receive a set minimum payment along with a cut of any advertising dollars brought in. Spotify will handle selling ads and getting the podcast in front of larger numbers of listeners across the audio-streaming landscape.

Since launching, Joe Rogan’s show has evolved into a cultural touchstone, hosting everyone from comedians to scientists to athletes. Through it all, Spotify has aided greatly in taking the program global as the #1 podcast. Now, with an eye toward ongoing growth, Joe Rogan’s popular podcast takes its next step in spreading its message to even wider audiences.
