Singer Demi Lovato has opened up about feeling anxious ahead of her anticipated performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards ceremony. In a recent interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Lovato recalled being nervous to take the stage in September and deliver the rock versions of some of her biggest hits. However, seeing familiar faces in the crowd cheering her on helped boost her confidence.

Specifically, Lovato credited Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini for providing encouragement during her set.

“You know, who I saw cheering me on was Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini,” Lovato said. “I was nervous going out there and once I saw people in the audience cheering me on, I was like,’OK, I can do this.'”

Videos from the award show went viral showing Swift passionately singing along to every word of Lovato’s songs. Their interaction sparked fans’ interest, given rumors of past tensions between Lovato and Swift dating back over a decade. However, the stars’ display of comradery at the VMAs suggests any past issues have long been resolved. Lovato expressed gratitude for Swift spearheading the audience support that empowered her to rock out confidently on music’s biggest night. The experience reinforced that she and Swift have moved into a chapter defined by mutual admiration rather than past misunderstandings.
