Sona, a pioneering Los Angeles-based music streaming protocol powered by Web3 technology, has aligned with streaming infrastructure provider Tuned Global. Founded by notable producer TOKiMONSTA, Sona launched its beta platform last month with a novel approach.

Foregoing subscriptions, Sona allows free streaming but also “SONA” tokens representing songs. Token holders can profit from their music plays. Both independent artists and labels can participate alongside fans.

Tuned Global will offer its content delivery and reporting tools to Sona. This integration allows playlist and radio creation based on favorite musicians. As explained by Tuned MD Con Raso, their aim is finding innovative models supporting artists beyond standard royalties.

“Sona knew they needed to harmonize with the existing music industry and its needs. We were here to make sure they could accomplish this efficiently and cost-effectively” said Raso. Reporting ensures proper compensation to rights holders.

Sona co-founder Laura Jaramillo sees it as “tilting broken streaming economics in favor of artists and making the industry more fair, equitable, and rewarding for both artists and fans,” She believes owning creative work allows uncompromised artistry.

Jaramillo acknowledges Tuned Global’s role in letting Sona “harmonize with the existing music industry and its needs.” The partnership comes as Web3 platforms promise fairer compensation compared to streaming dominance that marginalizes independents.

Audius also offers a similar model for direct artist investment. Innovations like integrated NFTs point to streaming’s continual evolution, now focused on fan-artist partnerships for success. This alliance signals Sona and Tuned Global’s shared vision of empowering musicians through technology.
