The cast of Glee have honored late star Naya Rivera with the release of an unheard song titled “Prayer For The Broken”. Rivera tragically passed away in 2020 after drowning at Lake Piru in California at just 33 years old. She was beloved for her role as cheerleader Santana Lopez on the hit musical series.
The song was recorded years ago but remained unfinished until now. It is being released as part of an annual charity fundraiser that benefits Alexandria House, which supports homeless women and children. Her former co-stars Heather Morris, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley and more provided backing vocals to complete the track as a tribute.
Permission was granted by Rivera’s mother as well as the original songwriters. McHale shared a video of the cast members coming together to commemorate the special release. “This song has meant so much to me over the years, and now I hope it will for all of you,” he wrote on Instagram.
For many fans who grew up with Glee, Rivera’s character was an inspiration. This unfinished song is a poignant reminder of the immense talent and passionate performer who was tragically lost too soon. Though she has passed, her memory and legacy clearly live on through music and in the hearts of her devoted costars and audience worldwide.
